wth is the Harlem Shake?

I keep hearing it's supposed to be the Gangnam Style of 2013 but I don't get it. I don't know if I'm just proving how out-of-touch I am with current culture but it just looks like a bunch of people having spasms. However irritating and annoying Psy's Gangnam Style became over the course of 2012, at least there were actual dance moves and it was somewhat fun.
